Open the side you want to change
Open a saved photo. If it has a back, select Front or Back first, then choose Adjust crop. The editor opens the original image with the current frame, so your crop can include parts that were outside the previous crop.
Zoom into the edge
Pinch or use the plus and minus controls to zoom, up to 32×. Pan the image to reach the part you need. Drag a corner to adjust one point, or use a handle at the middle of a side to move both of that side's corners together. Fit image returns to the whole scan.
Choose a useful frame
The Frame menu offers Free perspective, Rectangle · 90°, Square · 1:1 and photo proportions. Use Free perspective to follow a print photographed at an angle. A rectangular print can appear trapezoidal in the source image, so forcing four 90° corners is not always the correct crop.
Move, rotate or undo the frame
Hold inside the frame, then drag to move it as a whole. Use the frame rotation controls for 45° snapping and Undo to reverse a crop adjustment. Corner degree labels help you inspect the shape. Save crop applies the result; wait for the saving indicator to finish before making another crop change.
Remove a print border when it is detected
When Then & There finds an inner photo border, the saved-photo page offers Remove detected frame beside Adjust crop. Check the result after using it. The shortcut disappears when the current cropped image has no detected border. If it is absent or the result is not precise enough, follow the inner picture edge manually in Adjust crop.
Separate a full collage scan
Open the full scan and choose Separate photos. Check every suggested crop and deselect areas that are not a complete photograph. If automatic separation misses images, choose Select photos manually instead, place the outline around one image and choose Add this photo. Repeat for the remaining images, adding at least two before saving the manual selection.
Save and check the individual images
Use the Save photos button showing your selected count, then View individual photos. Each separated image can be cropped and dated independently. Its Source collage preview opens the full scan. A separated image has no separate back; any writing on the physical collage's reverse belongs to the full scan.
A few useful things to know
- Visible gaps and borders help automatic separation. Overlapping images and decorative frames may need manual outlines.
- The full scan is retained when you separate photos. Inherited notes and narration describe that full scan, so check whether they fit an individual image.
- Confirmed people are retained across crop adjustments. A face outside the new crop can disappear from view and return if the crop is expanded.
