How to date old family photos
Use birthdays, remembered ages, life events and dated photographs to narrow a date range, then choose a reviewed day for export.
Read the guideExport scanned photos with dates and metadata
Keep the original photo date in exported metadata, choose a year/month folder structure and preserve the editable collection in an archive backup.
Read the guideRecover photos and restore a Then & There archive
Use the queue, bundle recycle bins and archive backups without throwing away an existing collection.

Contact Then & There
Include your device model, Then & There version and the steps that led to the problem. Please do not send API keys, passwords or a full family archive.
Before making a big change
Export an archive backup of the bundle. Photo exports and archive backups do different jobs: the backup is the one to keep for restoring your work in Then & There.
A date looks wrong
Check the original clue first. Correct the age or relationship that was entered incorrectly and review the affected photos. Birthdays, death dates and life events are edited in their own sections, rather than changed to fit a photo.
A scan or crop looks wrong
Open the original source and compare it with the saved crop. Use Adjust crop for edges, rotation and perspective. Keep the print still until capture is confirmed; use manual capture if automatic detection struggles.
The public Immich demo will not load
The optional Try Immich demo connection uses Immich’s public server. It periodically resets and can be temporarily unavailable; wait and retry. It is separate from your own Immich libraries. You do not need to create an API key for this demo, and it does not upload your scans or provide storage for them. Read the comparison guide.
