Distinguish a shared moment from a similar age
When comparing two bundle photos, use Same moment only if they were taken together on the same date. Similar age is a looser comparison and does not link their dates. Two portraits of a child who looks about the same age may still have been taken weeks apart.
Review group changes before confirming
Saving a reviewed metadata day for a Same moment group shows the connected photographs and proposed date. Check every thumbnail before confirming. Lock date can similarly offer to apply and lock a date across the group. Cancel leaves the saved choices unchanged; a conflicting member must be reviewed instead of silently receiving the date.
Read what actually disagrees
Open Review date conflict and read What disagrees first. A photo's own clues can fit together while a linked photo creates the contradiction. Supporting information and other linked photos explain the connection; their presence does not mean every listed detail is wrong. Open View source photo or View comparison photos when the wording alone is unclear.
Correct a photo clue or its link
Use Correct this clue for a mistaken age or comparison. Use Change event link if the wrong event was attached, or Unlink event from this photo when it does not apply. Saved birthdays, death dates and life events stay fixed here. Edit a genuinely incorrect shared fact in People or Life events.
Handle a mistaken age across related photos
If an age was entered incorrectly, edit that age clue, enter the correction and press Next. Choose Correct the original age when offered. Review whether each related photo should keep its current date or move with the corrected photo. Keeping the other dates is the default; genuine earlier photos should not move just because this one was misread.
Check the correction preview
Read the old and new ranges, changed comparisons, Same moment links being separated and clues that would stop applying. For example, correcting six months to nine months may leave a seven-month photo where it is and change its relationship from later to earlier. Confirm only when the preview matches what you mean.
Remove a clue only when it no longer applies
Stop using this clue shows what would change in the date calculations. Read the preview and confirm if the clue is wrong; Undo removal can restore that removal. This does not by itself unlock photos or overwrite saved dates. Removing one contradiction may expose another that still needs review.
Finish the linked-photo review
Work through Related photos to review after a correction and mark each reviewed once its date and evidence make sense. If you intend to change a locked date, review and unlock it explicitly. You normally do not need to recreate the bundle to correct one mistake.
A few useful things to know
- A correct age clue can support a period rather than one birthday. Someone who was two in May can still be two in November.
- Check the named person as well as the age: similar wording can describe different people and need not be a duplicate.
- External-source Same date comparisons provide date evidence; they do not turn the external reference into a linked bundle photo.
